Biomimetic asymmetric catalysis

Enzymes are the core for biological transformations in nature. Their structures and functions have drawn enormous attention from biologists as well chemists since last century. The large demand of bioactive molecules pursuit efficiency greenness synthesis spurred rapid development biomimetic chemistry past several decades. Biomimetic asymmetric catalysis, mimicking enzymes, has been recognized one most promising synthetic strategies valuable chiral compounds. This review summarizes evolution catalysis inspired by aldolases, vitamin B1/B6-dependent NAD(P)H, flavin, hydrogenases, heme oxygenases, non-heme dinuclear/multinuclear metalloenzymes aspects design, catalyst related catalytic transformations. Those well-established approaches originating reactions demonstrated unique prowess bridging gap between bio-catalysis chemical synthesis.
